Introduction

Wisconsin is home to some of the most beautiful national parks run by the National Park Service in the United States or even North America. From typical national park activities like hiking, backcountry camping, cross country skiing, and horseback riding to more unique opportunities like visiting an underwater shipwreck or viewing historic lighthouses on Lake Michigan, these are all excellent places for people who love the outdoors! Here are a few of our favorite spots.

The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore

The Apostle Islands are one of the most scenic places in Wisconsin, and can be found along Lake Superior with its main visitor center in Bayfield, WI. The islands themselves make for a great day trip with hiking trails and beautiful views. For those who prefer to stay on land there is also an excellent museum that tells the history of these amazing national treasures of the national park system!

The National Lakeshore is home to spectacular views and recreational opportunities with twenty-six miles of hiking trails, so you're sure to find something perfect for your skill level and desires while exploring this area. Families will enjoy visiting Mirror Lake or taking a cruise around Madeline Island, which has some incredible historic buildings too! With plenty of outdoor activities available like kayaking or fishing it's easy to spend hours enjoying all this park has to offer. You might even spot some bald eagles on your trip!

Another great feature of this national park is the shipwreck that can be explored only by snorkel or diving. Seeing an underwater world up close has to be one of the most fascinating experiences, and you never know what unique creatures might end up under your nose too!

Camping, fishing, hiking - you name it! It's one of our favorite spots in all these parts so don't miss out on checking this spot out if you're ever passing through the area. The trails are excellent for biking or running too, so it might be worth bringing your bike with to get some exercise while exploring nature at its best! There are plenty more waterfalls around as well that make up a really scenic place to visit any time of year. Take some family photos by their waterside edge and enjoy having an authentic camping experience surrounded by beauty no matter what month you decide to explore them during.

Ice Age National Scenic Trail

The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is one of the longest national scenic trails in the US and it leads visitors through 15 states.

Best known for its snowmobile routes, this ice age trail also offers great mountain biking options too! It's an excellent place to get outside on either two or four wheels while trekking across some of Wisconsin's most beautiful landscapes. The trail also connects to Timm's Hill Trail, which leads to the highest point in Wisconsin. The scenery is breathtaking from any point you choose to explore it at - making it a perfect escape no matter what time of year they're visited. Now that we've talked about them let's take a look at all these wonderful natural wonders Wisconsin has waiting for us!

Interstate State Park

Interstate State Park is a great destination for anyone who loves water sports like fishing, kayaking or canoeing.

Located on the shores of Lake Winnebago and Green Bay this Wisconsin state park offers visitors plenty of options when it comes to what they want to do! There are plenty more things too that make this spot worth checking out in the winter months - including their ice skating rink which has been open since December so there's no better time than now to enjoy some outdoor fun! The scenery here isn't always as striking as other spots but with over 1500 acres available for exploration you'll find something new around every corner. What makes this place even better though? It doesn't cost anything at all to get into and unlike other state parks you won't have to worry about running into any crowds!

Copper Falls State Park

Copper Falls State Park is a fun destination for visitors of all ages.

There are plenty more waterfalls to explore in the area too but if you're looking for that natural beauty and serenity then this spot's got it! The scenery here is just stunning - no matter what season they're explored during or how close up you decide to get with them. Want some real peace and quiet? This park offers nature lovers the perfect escape from everything else, making it one of our favorite spots near Lake Superior! There are also other options like an excellent backpacking trail that leads through virgin forest so hikers can enjoy some wilderness camping without having to go very far out their way.

North Country National Scenic Trail

The North Country National Scenic Trail is a hiking trail that stretches all the way from New York to North Dakota, making it one of our country's longest trails. This backcountry route offers hikers some diverse scenery and plenty of places to explore in between!

It's also home to 13 national historic sites like old homesteads or mining towns which can be found along the way too - so make sure you take your time exploring! The views are breathtaking no matter what season they're explored during but fall might just be my favorite because there's nothing better than taking in leaves changing colors against an already stunning backdrop. It feels like nature has gone out its way to offer us not only something beautiful but a special winter treat for when we're feeling a little down in the dumps.

Nicolet National Forest

The Nicolet National Forest is home to a lot of great natural attractions, which means there's something for everyone in this beautiful forest. Visitors can check out the national scenic trail that runs through its forests and lakes, or head over to one of five campgrounds from June-September while exploring Wisconsin's most popular outdoor destination.

Even if you don't like camping we bet you'll enjoy taking a tour with our knowledgeable guides who are happy to share their love and knowledge about these woods! The scenery here has been inspiring writers since it was first explored by Native Americans and later European settlers because they were so impressed by what they found when coming across these wilds.

Nicolet National Forest is an excellent place for people who love exploring nature. The scenery is beautiful and there's so much to see!

Rock Island State Park

Rock Island State Park is a great place to get out there and enjoy nature for any season.

In the winter months you'll be able to explore this park's trails on snowshoes which allows visitors of all ages to experience it as an entirely new adventure! There are over 15 miles worth of paths, making it one of Wisconsin's largest ski resorts when they have enough snowfall - so come prepared with your gear because anything can happen here in November or December! What better time than now though? With Rock Island being just off the shores Lake Superior, these cold temperatures make exploring even more beautiful. It feels like we're walking through someplace from another world - not that I'm complaining at all; those moments where we really feel like we're getting away from everything are some of my favorites!
